About the Show

“American Mosaic” is a weekly 30-minute compendium of writings, interviews and music that takes radio listeners across country from Midwest farmhouses to Mississippi Delta cotton fields, from Manhattan offices to ranches on the Great Plains. “American Mosaic” is based on writings created by everyday folk in Free River Press writing workshops led by Robert Wolf and is devoted to the search for contemporary America. “American Mosaic” is distributed to radio stations via PRX and Pacifica’s Audioport.

“American Mosaic” features stories and voices from the Midwest, Southwest, Mississippi Delta, New York, and Chicago. The voices of farmers, towboat captains, commercial fishermen, ranchers, jazz musicians. Corporate public relations specialists, suburban housewives, actors, social workers. Men and women from villages and cities. In short, a cross-section of America. Most of the recordings in “American Mosaic” feature the original authors, but some are also read by actors, like noted stage & film veteran Robert Swan.

The linocuts on these pages are the work of Chicago singer/songwriter/aritst Bonnie Koloc. Samples of Bonnie’s CDs can be heard at www.bonniekoloc.com.

The theme music for American Mosaic with Robert Wolf” was written and performed by Chuck Suchy (www.chucksuchy.com) North Dakota’s state troubador. Click HERE to listen to Robert Wolf interview Chuck Suchy on an episode of “American Mosaic.”
