Hot Topics

This series focuses on topics such as homelessness, American Indian poverty, drug trafficking, the Palestinian-Israeli turmoil (as it impacts Americans), the arts in education, and more. While some of our other series cover topics that are definitely “hot,” this series has much to do with social justice and community well-being.

For its first two-and-a-half years, Free River Press was devoted to creating a small body of writings by Nashville homeless and issued six chapbooks by homeless writers. In 2004, FRP conducted a workshop for Arabs and Jews in New York and New Jersey and published their writings in Violence in the Holy Land: Witnessing the Conflict in the Middle East (2004).

More recently FRP has conducted interviews on the Pine Ridge Reservation with the Oglala Lakota.
